Is your website ready for the UK?

The UK left the EU, so some rules differ: PECR instead of the EU cookie rules, the ICO fee, and VAT on parcels from abroad. Answer a few quick questions and see what is in place. Answer for your own website.

Your website is

  1. Your company details on the website

  2. The ICO data protection fee paid

  3. A privacy policy under the UK GDPR

  4. Cookie consent before tracking

  5. An accessible website

  6. UK English, pounds and postcodes

  7. An order button that says the order costs money

Questions about working with clients in the UK

Do you work with clients in the UK?

Yes. We work remotely by video call, email and WhatsApp. Croatia is one hour ahead of the UK, so our working days overlap almost completely.

How does VAT work when a UK company hires a Croatian agency?

Croatian VAT is not charged to UK business clients for our services. You account for any UK VAT yourself under the reverse charge. Your accountant will know it well.

Do I need a cookie banner in the UK?

For most websites, yes. PECR requires consent for non-essential cookies such as advertising. The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 relaxes this for some low-risk analytics, so we follow the ICO's latest guidance when we set it up.

Does my website have to be accessible?

The Equality Act 2010 expects businesses to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and that includes websites. WCAG 2.2 AA is the usual standard, and it is how we build. See our accessibility audit.

Can I sell to UK customers from an EU shop?

Yes. Most parcels worth up to £135 need UK VAT charged at the checkout, which usually means registering for UK VAT, and delivery times and costs should be clear before ordering. We set up the shop side; your accountant handles the registration. See online shops.
